Bernadette. Peters was born Bernadette. Lazzara in Ozone Park Queens New York 28 February 1948 is a singer/songwriter and an author of children's books. Her long career that spanned 5 years. She has appeared in shows, made solo recordings and appeared on television. She was nominated for and received three Drama Desk Awards. Grammy Awards were won for four Broadway casting albums, where she was a part of the cast. Peters started her acting career performing on stage during the 1960s when she was a teenager, and later in the 1970s, she worked in TV and in film. She was praised for this early work and for roles in The Muppet Show The Carol Burnett Show and other television work and for her role in movies like Silent Movie The Jerk Pennies from Heaven and Annie. In the 80s the actress returned to Broadway where for three decades she was among Broadway's most popular stars. Peters has also recorded 6 solo albums as well as several singles, in addition to several cast albums. In addition, she is a regular performer in her solo act. Peters has also continued to appear in television and film and has been awarded three Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards which she has won at least once.
